The climatic conditions of the application area are extremely important. If the area is subject to freeze-thaw cycles, extra precautions must be taken during surface preparation. For stone carpet application, proper and permanent adhesion to the surface is essential. Therefore, the application should be done on concrete with a strength of at least C20 or on a solid asphalt surface. In harsh climates, the concrete surface requires extra processing due to freeze-thaw cycles. In such climatic conditions, it is essential to remove the weak grout layer from the concrete surface by grinding it with diamond-tipped grinding machines. After surface grinding, any cracks should be opened in a V shape and repaired with epoxy repair mortar. Afterwards, IsoPrimepox or IsoPrime PU primer should be applied to the surface. To increase the surface roughness before application, optional extra sandblasting with 1-2 mm thick quartz sand can be preferred before the primer dries.
For permeable floor applications, you can obtain detailed information from our website or our technical team. Before mixing, ensure that the stones are dry and dust-free. The resin should be mixed and prepared according to the ratios specified on the packaging. Components A and B should first be mixed together and stirred with a drill for 2 minutes. The stones should be placed in the mixer, and the prepared resin should be added immediately while the mixing process continues. To ensure an ideal mixture, the Isopave Stone Carpet Mixer, specifically designed for stone carpets, should be used. After 5 minutes of mixing, ensure the resin coats all the stones, making sure no dry areas remain. The amount of resin to be used varies between 6% and 7% of the stone's weight, depending on the stone's surface structure and size. Using too much resin will cause foaming, so the optimum resin amount should be used. When mixing with a hand mixer using a bucket measuring tool, the bottom of the bucket may not be homogeneous. In such a case, the mixture should be transferred to a different bucket, and mixing should continue in the new bucket.
Ensuring thickness homogeneity and surface smoothness is extremely important in stone carpet applications. Therefore, after the stones are laid on the ground, a leveling screed and special Isopave Pulling Trolleys should be used for spreading. After the spreading process, application should be done to the surface using special trowels lubricated with Isopave Trowel Oil. It should be remembered that applying pressure to the surface during application will make the stones adhere more tightly and interlock. If thinner or similar solvents are used instead of oil, the solvent in the trowel will thin the resin on the surface, reducing the adhesion strength of the stones. Applications with soap should be avoided as foaming may be observed in the resin. For high-meterage applications, finishing with a special Isopave Lightweight Finishing Machine should be preferred. Immediately after application, if slip resistance is desired, the surface is finished by sprinkling Isopave Glass Powder.
- Surface problems may occur in applications performed in environments below +5 ºC and above +35 ºC.
- Application surfaces must be dry and clean.
- Safety precautions specified on the can and in the TDS should be taken before application.
- Application should be carried out according to the specified application characteristics.
- After partial use; the container should be tightly closed and care should be taken to prevent air from entering the container.
- Contact with skin and eyes should be avoided; in case of contact, wash with plenty of water and consult a doctor.
- The product should not be in contact with water during the drying time.
- Immediately after application, before the resin hardens, equipment should be cleaned with cellulosic thinner.
- Stone Carpet is not a waterproofing material and is permeable. It is recommended that waterproofing be done before application in indoor and outdoor areas where impermeability is desired.
- Empty containers should not be used to store food or drinking water.
